AB that offensive advertising was placed 'within' the AUB homepage. I did not think that it was authorised but had to make sure. Web advertising has become very intrusive. If you couldn't open the thread it was probably because of the blankety-blank symbols I used in the title not being acceptable to the site software.

I am at a loss at how to combat this sort of thing.

The thread wouldn't open probably due to my security settings.. But if I can't open a thread they get deleted as they most likely have some kind of dangerous links in them.. I was only able to read your post,OG's and Bowties post as they go to my email when there is a post in the AUB.

Marshall it maybe something on your computer as it isn't in the homepage here at AUB.. I would run a scan.. Here are a few programs that i like to use.. You sometimes are surprised at what they may find..

They appear to originate from 'chicita targetable ads'. I will run Malwarebytes and if I get no result I will try the other programs that you listed. Note that if I am logged-in the ads don't appear.

Try the Adwcleaner first, that is a quick scanner. It sounds like Adware on your computer.

Thanks for the listing, I'm pretty sure that the freeware Avast! AV I have is dealing with such things as I regularly get blocked when clicking on links, sometimes even to familiar forums and have to override it to continue, but will try them just in case.

Your Welcome.. I find that no one scanner is a do all remove all utility... You often have to scan with a few different utilities to find all the stubborn Malware,junkware,adware,spyware,etc... Those are a few that I have had some sucess with. And they are all FREE !

I found a means to block the offending ads(and others)- see here: Use Tracking Protection in Internet Explorer - Microsoft Windows Help I added some tracking protection lists.
